By: Missy Marston

I’ve mentioned many times the importance of meditation in opening your mind and your third eye, but why else should you do it every day? Meditation has many physical, mental, and emotional benefits outside of the well-known metaphysical gains. So why should you take some time to meditate everyday and practice mindfulness? For all of the following beneficial properties!

  1. Meditation is brain food:

  • Helps control ADD and ADHD.
  • Expands creativity and creative thinking.
  • Increases mental capacity and processing information.
  • Allows gamma ray production in the brain.
  • Makes it easier to retain and recall memories and information.
  • Treats depression and reduces chances of depression.
  • Helps you to become more centered and limits distractions.
  • Regulates your mood.
  • Makes it easier to make decisions.
  • Increases your sense of self.
  1. Meditation restores emotional balance:
  • Reduces anxiety, worry, and stress.
  • Decreases feelings of loneliness and fear.
  • Makes you more socially inclined.
  • Helps improve self-esteem.
  • Greatly improves your mood.
  • Curbs eating and smoking as emotional crutches.
  • Relaxes you, prompting optimism and self-awareness.
  • Reduces impulsive eating.
  1. Meditation promotes physical improvement:
  • Helps in pain management and reducing pain.
  • Lowers your blood pressure.
  • Improves your breathing and helps those with asthma.
  • Increases your energy.
  • Boosts your immune system.
  • Encourages longevity,
  • Helps to improve your heart rate.
  • Decreases your chances of getting arthritis.

All it takes is ten or fifteen minutes a day. Clear your mind and use your intuition and senses instead of your rational mind. Be self-aware and mindful. But most of all – meditate!
