What is a Kundalini Awakening?

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is the source of our life force. It lays coiled at the base of the spine until death, when it is awoken and released back to the Creator. When it is awoken, it crawls its way from your spine to your crown chakra.

What is a Kundalini Awakening?

What is a kundalini awakening?

With dedicated spiritual practice, notably yoga, kundalini can be awoken while we are still alive – causing a expanded state of consciousness. It can also be awoken due to trauma, a near death experience, a major illness, through drugs, through a dream, by a Guru, or through past life awakenings. A kundalini awakening can happen slowly or incredibly fast, and can be terrifying, disorienting, blissful, or give you a feeling of oneness:this all depends on how ready you are to experience the new perception of this world offered by this awakening.

Awakening your kundalini is only the beginning of this spiritual journey. There is plenty of hard work to do after it is awoken, and it cannot be reversed – so make sure you are dedicated to this experience before trying it. If you have any unresolved issues from your past, your kundalini awakening will bring them up until they are dealt with. It will make you reevaluate preconceived notions programmed into your brain about how life should be, materialism, and everything else we’re taught about our world. You will start to see a new life through new eyes, and what you consider ‘real’ will no longer be the same.

We are not meant to remove ourselves from this material life, but rather get closer to the divine. That’s what a kundalini awakening is all about. It helps to purify our bodies and our souls in order to experience the Creator in this world, and to allow a larger free flow of life energy, or prana.

In the physical sense, awakening kundalini may bring about weird muscle spasms, visions, hot flashes, shaking, spontaneous movements, and joint issues. In the mental sense, awakening kundalini may mess with your emotions, open your mind and heart to new perspectives, and may facilitate psychic abilities. It destroys the ego, and makes way for love and oneness, making it a great asset to those on a spiritual life path.

Don’t try to do this without some kind of spiritual master or guru unless you are absolutely sure you are ready for this ego death and new perspective. Many who awaken their kundalini without knowing what is happening think they are going crazy or are incredibly ill – it can be dangerous in the wrong hands and with the wrong intentions. Without a master to guide you, kundalini awakenings may be scary.

So, don’t try to force your kundalini awakening. Work towards it, but let it happen naturally.

Love and light to you all.
