One of the most important benefits of meditation is the ability to slow everything down and really evaluate your thoughts, feelings, and desires. If left ignored, these emotions and wants can manifest into both mental and physical distress.

Think of your body as its own entity and your brain as your true self. Are you paying more attention to the wants and feelings of your body than to those of your mind? A good way to find out is meditating on self-discovery.

In ‘ The Little Book of Big Promises’ by Peggy Rometo, Peggy outlines an interesting method of self-awareness and connecting to the sixth sense – your intuition.

You will need to focus on your breathing; it is the key to relaxation and therefore self-discovery!

Begin this method as you would any meditation session. Find a quiet place where you can clear and open your mind.

Close your eyes and bring your chin to your chest. This symbolizes the desire for self-searching.

Imagine the core of the Earth beneath the soles of your feet.

Now, envision a marker at the center. It can be your signature, a trinket, or whatever you feel comfortable with. Peggy uses an anchor to symbolize grounding herself to the Earth.

Breathe while imagining a bright tunnel of light passing over you, bringing you closer to your marker at the center.

Hold this breath and let it go slowly while envisioning the tunnel moving past you, but this time moving you away from the marker.

Imagine that light now reaching your chosen sign at the core as you exhale.

Continue this exercise at least three more times.

This process helps you to look inwards for guidance – whether it be about a relationship or finances – and helps open your sixth sense.

As Peggy says – Slow down, let it go, trust the flow.
