Easy Ways to Clear Your Mind

Do you have trouble focusing while you meditate? Do you find your mind wandering and getting off track? Meditation is about clearing your mind and listening to your inner voice and higher self. Some find it difficult to meditate, even in a controlled, calm, and peaceful environment free of distractions. If you have difficulties with this, try out these ways to focus!

  1. Stop trying to stop your thoughts – acknowledge your thoughts and then let them go. Try to focus on the silence in between these thoughts.
  2. Embrace your restlessness – be the watcher of your feelings, instead of the one feeling them. Allow yourself to feel the restlessness in your body until it settles. This same practice can be done with strong emotional feelings during meditation as well.
  3. Start simple – begin by sitting and counting your deep breaths. As you first inhale, think ‘one’ until you exhale. Repeat your second breath and focus on ‘two’ until you exhale. Continue this process until you are fully relaxed. If your mind begins to wander, it’s okay. Begin again with ‘one’.
  4. Try touch – Put your fingers or hand on your chest and feel your breath. Focus on the sensation of breathing and nothing else. Soon, you will feel relaxed with a clearer mind.
  5. Become aware of yourself – Look at your toes and really feel them. Slowly move to your feet and do the same. Continue this until you reach the top of your head, focusing on each chakra as you come to it.

So, if you have not tried mediation because you feel you can’t, try it out anyway! It’s a great asset to your mental, physical, and spiritual health!
